The Presentation


________Presenter clearly and enthusiastically presents about his or her topic for 3-5 minutes.


________Presentation includes strong visuals (with minimal text) or a creative representation of the material.


________Presenter is a credible expert on the topic speaking knowledgeably, citing references and other experts, including relevant statistics and informative facts.


________Presenter engages the audience with eye contact, questions, and humor, while educating them about the topic of the presentation.

Creative Presentation (25 Points)

Google presentation (powerpoint on google drive) 10 slides video

  • pamphlet / brochure (need a copy for all students) You can use copier on campus if you bring paper

  • Mock News Presentation

  • Game in which students learn some of the findings you discovered (jeopardy or True / False Quiz in partners)

  • organize a campaign awareness day (make & wear t-shirts, posters, pass out pamphlets, information table at lunch that is ASB approved) - discuss what you did and results with class

  • write a song about the results of your findings and perform for class

  • demonstration or artistic display

Deception & Lies (Welcome to the Border Article)

Today, you will be turning in the Deception article (Welcome to the Border) after annotating it for the second time for specific points, modes of writing, evidence of research and effective Text Features.

1. These points should be in your annotations. Circle and Label A-G
a. How did September 11, 2001 change us? Talk about What other events have changed the way we deal with security?
b. Find 3 facts about how we lie
c. Find 2 reasons why the polygraph is difficult to work with
d. According to Burgoon, what are signs of lying?
e. Eventually, what did the researchers Nunamaker & Burgoon find?
f. Why is Eckman's research useful?
g. How does the Avatar interrogator spot a lie or malintent? Find 3 ex
2. Title your sections & Outline the article - how does the author organize his information (do you think it is effective?)
3. Find & Label 3 modes of writing the article uses & the effect? (narration, description, examples, definition, compare / contrast, classification, cause / effect, problem / solution) What is the effect?
